Lots MORE snow!

We had another three days of snowy weather this past week!  The amount of snow varied each day, ranging from 2" to 13" in a day. For most of the time it was a blizzard!  By the end of Tuesday, we ended up with over 3' of compacted powder snow on the ground!  Then on Wed, Thursday, and Friday the sun came out and stayed!  The roads dried out, we shoveled out our cars (took two days), went to town (an hour away) and got groceries etc., and went for some walks.

Last Tuesday our power went out and it won't be back on until next Tuesday!  Right now we have our generator on and I'm able to get on the computer.  My blog will be brief however, as we don't want to use up all the generator gas.

Tomorrow, Saturday, another big storm is coming in with a potential to drop another 3' of snow by Monday afternoon!  Geeze! Looks like winter is going to be around for a while still!

We don't usually get powder snow so we really enjoyed it!  It was amazingly beautiful!

As the storm was ending on Tuesday, I had fun photographing the change in the light.  Contrasts and depth improved as the snow diminished!

The North Yuba River after the snowy days!

On Wednesday morning, the sun came up and mists formed as the snow evaporated.  So so beautiful!

The brilliant blue sky couldn't have been a lovelier backdrop for the snow laden trees!

Steller's Jay with his toes poking out of the snow!

Local Birds!

I'm so enjoying the local birds that come to our bird feeding area!  No time to write about them, but thought you'd enjoy the photos!

Mountain Quail ever vigilant while eating the bird seed!

Band-tailed Pigeons waiting for the other 40 in their flock to show up!

Canada Geese in the river with snow on their backs!

A very unusual sight was this gorgeous Killdeer that was up on the highway today!  (I'll write more about it next week)

What's happening in the foothills and Central Valley?

How much snow did the Lakes Basin get?

Check back next week for the answers to these questions and more!
